Mangalore: TV Programme at Town Hall Turns Violent; Police Interfere

Mangalore, Dec 31: The ‘Akhada,’ programme organized by Zee Kannada channel at Town Hall, turned violent, on Monday, December 31.
The hot debate ensued here, when former MLA Yogish Bhat accused that the district administration has failed to control the communal clashes in the district. Suddenly, Pattabhirama Somayaji, a thinker and lecturer in University College has accused that the politicians are also responsible for the clashes which have taken place in the district. Somayaji also accused that, former minister B Nagaraj Shetty had directly involved in the communal clashes which took place during October 2006.
Later, an errant audience asked Somayaji not to accuse political leaders, instead focus on developmental issues only.
Meanwhile, another audience alleged that former MLA, U T Khader and former Mayor Ashraf were also involved in the disgraced communal clashes of October 2006. But, the Ullal Block Congress president Eshwar Ullal and Vittal Block Congress president, M S Mohammed denied their allegations. Meanwhile, the situation took ugly turn when the BJP and Congress supporters ruffed up each other.
Finally, the police had to interfere to bring the situation under control.
