Bantwal, Jan 1: The locals who had gathered for a peace meeting here on Monday December 31 appealed the police department to deploy additional security at B C Road which is gradually turning into a sensitive area.
The meeting was held under the presidentship of assistant commissioner Sameer Shukla. However, BJP and Sangh Parivar boycotted the meeting stating that police had failed to give security to Hindus and the latter were the worst affected in the recent cases of violence across the town. They also complained that police were targeting Hindus and there was clear partiality shown towards them.
Meanwhile those who participated in the meeting were of the opinion that B C Road bus stand, Kaikamba and other places have become sensitive pockets in the taluk. Since the polls are fast approaching there is an immediate need to strengthen police force and deploy additional police at least near B C Road bus stand.
Tahsildar C N Manjunath, Puttur ASP Dr Harsha, CI Lingappa Bangera, taluk panchayat president Chandrahas Bolantur, members Ummar Fajir, D K Hamza, Bhoo Bank chairman Sudarshan Jain and others were present at the meeting.
