RSS-linked body protests invite to Chinese firms

Indore, Oct 19 (PTI): RSS-affiliated Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM) today burnt the effigies of Madhya Pradesh Finance and Industries ministers to protest invitations to Chinese companies for the Global Investors Summit to be held in the BJP-ruled state on October 22-23.

The SJM workers set fire to the effigies of state Finance Minister Jayant Mallaiya and Industries Minister Rajendra Shukla at the historic Rajbada in the city, saying they were opposed to the invitation to Chinese firms as the country is providing financial support to Pakistan.

"We are totally against inviting Chinese representatives to the Global Investors Summit (GIS) to be held here as China is continuously extending financial support to Pakistan which is involved in anti-India activities," Coordinator of SJM's Indore-Ujjain Division, Suresh Bijolia said.

Terming China as an "anti-India country", he demanded that no Chinese company be allotted even an inch of land for setting up any industry in the state.

Mallaiya had clarified on October 15 that since invitation to Chinese representatives was sent quite earlier, it is not wise to prevent them from taking part in the GIS at the last moment.

Shukla, too, in his statement on October 10 had said, "In our country only those Chinese goods are opposed which are made in China. But if a company of that nation sets up its plant here then it will not only generate employment for the people but also earn revenue for the state."

Plain hypocrisy and fooling the public. Let the PM lead by example by replacing his made in China iPhone by a desi make for a starter. He just endorsed product, 17 lakh SIMs for which were imported from China in September alone and our social media is abuzz with pleas not to buy Chinese crackers during Diwali!

    Geoffrey,
Just for your knowledge, before you spread your wisdom to others.
None of the Iphone parts are manufactured in China. It is just assembled in Shenzen district, China along with other facilities in vietnam and thailand.
When our PM buys an iphone, major chunk goes to Apple and china gets only peanuts.

To enhance mobile connectivity in India among all, we need cheaper SIM cards. No problem in importing from China.

This Deepavali, we will say no to chinese crackers. You follow ours with saying no to stars, lighting, decoratives from China during Christmas.
