Udupi, Jan 1: Member of Parliament Manorama Madhwaraj has strongly opposed the forcible acquisition of agricultural land from the farmers, in order to set up Mangalore Special Economic Zone (MSEZ), in the undivided district Dakshina Kannada.
Although higher ministerial officers have not given final nod for MSEZ, the state administration seems to be engaged in forcible land acquisition. Union ministry of commerce has already sent a guideline to state government in this regard, stated Manorama Madhwaraj.
The copy of the guideline was presented at Gram Sabha, which was attended by the peasants of Permude, Kuttetthoor, Yekkar and Delanthabettu, she added. Moreover, she has extended support to people's struggle against SEZ.
Further, she has stated that the letter received from governor highlighted the strict actions to be taken on exemption awarded to Nagarjuna power plant and land acquisition by forest department.
