Himachal sees falling mercury

Shimla, Oct 29 (IANS): Most parts of Himachal Pradesh on Saturday saw the night temperature fall, with the picturesque tourist resort Manali recording a low of four degrees Celsius, the Met Office said.

However, the days are comparatively pleasant due to the dry weather.

Shimla saw a low of 9.4 degrees Celsius while it was 3 degrees in Kalpa in Kinnaur district and 14.8 degrees in Dharamsala, the abode of Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama.

Shimla's Thursday night temperature was 12 degrees Celsius.

"The night temperature of most towns will fall further in the coming days despite the dry weather. However, the day temperature in most towns like Shimla and Manali is around 20 degrees Celsius," a weather official told IANS.

Popular tourist spots near Shimla like Kufri and Narkanda, Kalpa, Manali, Dharamsala and Palampur are witnessing long sunny days.

The remote town of Keylong in Lahaul-Spiti district recorded a minimum temperature of 1.6 degrees Celsius, the coldest in the state.
