Police probing armed bikers threatening footballer Carroll

London, Nov 3 (IANS): London police are investigating whether claims of English football club West Ham striker Andy Carroll being threatened and chased by armed motorcyclists are true.

According to a BBC report, the alleged incident happened when the England forward, 27, was driving home from training at about midday on Wednesday.

Carroll is believed to have driven away from his pursuers and headed back to the club's Rush Green training ground.

A West Ham spokesperson confirmed on Wednesday that police were handling the incident.

The BBC reported that police were called on Wednesday at the West Ham training ground after Carroll returned to practice.

The former Newcastle and Liverpool forward is recovering from a knee injury, having not played for West Ham in the Premier League since the start of the season.

He signed for the London-based club from Liverpool in 2013, but has only made 38 first team starts since.
