Mysore, Jan 6: The day was begun with the mass in English at 6 . 30 a m which was celebrated by Fr Ronald D’Souza from Dhynavana. Then, the Malayalam mass was celebrated at 7 . 30 a m by Fr Anthony Thottithara. These masses were well attended by the devotees. Konkani mass was celebrated by Fr Dominic Vaz, the Provincial of the Karnataka and Goa province, at 9 . 00 a m, which was attended by a large crowd of Konkani speaking faithful. The mass in Tamil was celebrated by Fr Albert Savariar from Tanjavoor Shrine of Infant Jesus, at 10 . 00 a m. The festive Mass was celebrated by Fr Thomas A Vazhapilly, Bishop of Mysore, at 11 . 30 a m. During this mass of 9 couples were solemnized in marriage. The main sponsor of community wedding was Santhu Nasan, the newly elected Corporator of Mysore.
After Eucharistic Mass, free food of typical Indian style was served to over 7,000 people. The Shrine of the Infant Jesus is being visited by Christians and non-Christians alike. The venue is beaming with activities. The florists from Bangalore have done a remarkable job, so also ABIDS who have erected magnificent stage at the venue. Benna Electricals from Mangalore decorated the venue.
The various choir groups rendered melodiously singing which added colour to the celebration. Fr Archie Gonsalves, the Rector thanked one and all for their whole hearted support. Special prayers were offered to the unjustified suffering of Christian brethren in Orissa.
