Kasargod, Nov 5: The court here has awarded jail sentence apart from imposing fine on a person who had tried to secure driving licence (DL), duly supporting his application with fake records. The man who was handed this punishment happens to be Najeeb from Manikkot.

The court sentenced Najeeb to six years prison term and levied a fine of one lac rupees. When submitting the application for driving the licence on November 11, 2010 at the regional transport office (RTO) here, Najeeb reportedly had enclosed a fake certificate which certified that he had completed his SSLC education through SAT School, Bangramanjeshwar.

After the RTO officials complained about the submission of fake record, the town police here had registered a case, and after investigating, filed a charge sheet at the court.
