Rimple & Harpreet Narula to design for 'Padmavati'


Mumbai, Nov 5 (IANS): Designer duo Rimple & Harpreet Narula have been roped in by filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali to work on costumes for his period drama "Padmavati".

The duo will be making their Bollywood debut with their creations for the film.

Bhansali, who is known for grandeur and vibrancy in his films, requires Turkish-influenced designs as well as creations which reflect the 13th century era in Chittor.

Talking about working with the filmmaker, Harpreet said in a statement: "Working in tandem with Mr. Bhansali's vision, we have gone through a vast library of reference material, old documents and manuscripts as well as ancient traveller's accounts to come up with the looks."

"It has been an intensive and exhaustive process yet creatively very fulfilling as designers. Mr.Bhansali is known for his keen eye for detail, the visuals he creates on the big screen are larger than life," Harpreet added.

Rimple said they are "excited to be a part of this prestigious project and hope to be associated with Mr. Bhansali for many more movies to come".

"Padmavati" is a period film which will star Deepika Padukone in the title role, with Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh playing key roles.
