Udupi: Minister Madhwaraj holds ‘Jana Spandana’, solves various issues

Udupi, Nov 6: A district level ‘Jana Spandana’ programme was held by district in-charge minister Pramod Madhwaraj at Bannanje Sri Narayanaguru temple on Saturday, November 5. 

Speaking on the occasion, minister Madhwaraj said, “In a democratic country, citizens are the rulers of the nation. Jana Spandana has been organized to hear the grievances of the poor. People can directly complain to the concerned department on this platform. People need to be united so that they can demand proper work from politician.”

“BPL card is very important for backward families. They can avail health and other government benefits from this card. After I became the MLA of Udupi constituency, I have provided electricity connection to 850 families for free.”

“Congress-led state government has cleared debts of Rs two crores on Ashraya Sala Manna scheme. I was instrumental in bringing Rs 438 crores of funds from the government to various development works in district.” 

Speaking about the subsidy for animal husbandry, minister said, “The subsidy for dairy processing has been increased from Rs 2 to Rs 4. I have distributed Rs 3.42 crores to 13, 205 families in Udupi, Rs 3.53 crores to 12004 families in Kundapur and Rs 1.88 crores to 5801 families. Nearly 338000 families have received benefits of Rs 8.84 crores due amount from April 2016.”

District in-charge minister also distributed cheques, agricultural accessories, driving license to beneficiaries on the occasion. Bhagyalaxmi handed over bonds to 35 children, eight laptops for high scorers and compensation. RTC was given to 14 families who have Akrama-Sakrama land.

During the programme, minister received 32 petitions from people. The complaints were about potholes on roads, new proposal for connecting road, waste management and water supply problems.

In state, chief minister distributed BPL cards for 64,000 families. Out of which 12,000 BPL cards were for people in Udupi constituency.

A villager from Barkur demanded for JNNURM buses. Replying to his demand, minister ordered to send an immediate proposal to district controller for providing district buses.

A woman from Hanehalli shared her grievances with minister with watery eyes. She lives in Akrama Sakrama land and had applied for RTC which she has not got so far. She alleged that PDO was taking revenge and refusing to provide basic facilities.Minister directed concerned department to find an immediate solution to her problem.

Prashanth from Belapu requested for a job in the police department on compensation ground. His brother worked as police personnel. After his death, Prashanth was promised a job but he has not got the same. Minister Pramod called higher authority  and ordered to look into the matter.

Many complaints were heard and settled during the Jana Spandana programme.

Narasimha Murthy, president, town development authority, Janardhan Thone, zilla panchayat member and others were present.
