Udupi: Objection to Charges against Puttige Seer Filed

Udupi, Jan 8: The advocate for Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji of Puttige Math, A. Sripati Acharya, said on Monday that he would file his objection to an injunction sought by two persons C.H. Nagaraj Rao and Harish Bhat on the Puttige seer worshipping Lord Krishna at the Sri Krishna Temple/Math, at the court of the Additional Civil Judge (Junior Division) here on Tuesday.

Speaking to presspersons here, Mr. Acharya said that objection to the two charges made against the Puttige Seer by Mr. Rao and Mr. Bhat was filed on Monday.

Hearing


The hearing on these two charges would be taken up at the court of the Additional Civil Judge (Junior Division) on Tuesday, Mr. Acharya added.

‘Horekanike’


Meanwhile, the meeting of the Horekanike Committee was held at the Puttige Math here on Monday.

Speaking at the meeting, general secretary of the committee Jayakar Shetty Indralli said that the offering of “horekanike” for the Paryaya would begin on January 13 and culminate on January 17. Various persons and organisations from different places would be offering “horekanike” (in the form of vegetables, foodgrains, pulses, jaggery and others) on all these days.

The people from Mattu village would bring “Matti Gula” (a special type of brinjal) and offer it as “horekanike” on January 17, he said.

Convener of the committee Venugopal Muleria and others were present.
