Modi condoles Jayawantiben Mehta's death


New Delhi, Nov 7 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed grief over the death of senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Union Minister Jayawantiben Mehta.

"Saddened by the passing away of Jayawantiben Mehta. We remember her rich contribution to the nation. Condolences to her family," said Modi in a tweet.

Mehta, 78 passed away in the early hours of the day at her residence in Mumbai following a brief illness.

She had served as a minister in the cabinet of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
