Mangaluru, Nov 12: In connection with the murder attempt on Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) activist, Ramohan, police have intensified their investigation, and several have been taken into custody for questioning. In this respect, leaders and activists of BJP and Hindu organizations mobbed Ullal police station on Friday November 11, seeking the arrest of culprits involved with the incident at the earliest. They have said that if the accused are not arrested before November 15, they will organize agitation on a larger scale.
A gang of three motor bike-borne assailants had tried to kill Rammohan with a sword near Desody in Munnur villagle. The RSS leader, who suffered injury to his head, had luckily survived the attack.
Addressing the protesters during the protest near Ullal police station, former legislator, Jayaram Shetty, alleged that people behind criminal activities happening in the limits of Ullal and Konaje police station have connections with terrorists. "There is a need to investigate each such case with total conviction and punish the gilty towards crushing these elements. If the culprits are not arrested before November 15, a strong protest will be launched," he warned.
Shetty pointed out that accused who have been committing crimes in Ullal and Konaje station limits like murder, murder attempt and stabbing are at large, as police have failed to nab them. "Hindu society as a whole is facing atrocities one after the other, but the police have miserably failed in finding out the criminals. The incidents happening here look like having been executed by terrorists. There is no doubt that at least the perpetrators of crime have terrorist link. If the atrocities continue, Hindus will not remain mute spectators. A time may come in which police might be forced to use teargas shells and canes. It will be in the interests of everyone if police act fast before that happens, and arrest the guilty," he stated.
BJP constituency committee president, Santosh Kumar Boliyar, said that BJP and Hindu activists are always ready to extend cooperation for the investigation. He asked the police to discuss with senior officials if they are under any kind of political pressure, and see that justice is done. "People ask us what we have done. We cannot wait endlessly. Take steps now," he told the police.
BJP leaders, Santish Kumpala, Chandrahas Ullal, Jitendra Kottary, assistant police commissioner, Shruti, station house officers of Ullal and Konaje, Gopikrishna and Ashok, were present.
MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, condemned the above act. He accused lackadaisical approach on the part of police and appeasement policies of Congress as responsible for giving impetus to anti social elements in the district. Speaking after meeting the injured and pledging support to him in getting justice, Nalin accused the politicians of using their influence to transfer sincere officers.
DYFI seeks justice: Democrat ic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) has requested the police department to take immediate action and nab the people who tried to murder Ramohan at Kuthar. While appreciating the police for taking measures to keep people who were trying to incite communal clashes in the guise of Tipu Jayanti under check, Munnur village committee of DYFI felt that this incident appears to have been hatched to foment trouble and disturb the peace in the society. It said that the police should act to ward off a sense of fear and despair being felt by the general public because of such incidents.
