Mangalore: District Congress to Strengthen Party at Block Level

Mangalore, Jan 10: A district-wide tour will be conducted to strengthen the Congress party as part of preparations for the forthcoming assembly polls, said B Ramanath Rai, president of District Congress Committee (DCC).

Speaking at a press meetheld at the DCC city office recently, he said that grass-root-level meetings will be held in each block to prepare the party activists to create people's awareness campaign effectively.

Meanwhile, the inclusion of Vasant Bangera, former JD(S) leader to the party has increased the strength of Congress in the areas under Beltangady legislative assembly constituency, he opined.

Meetings of the Puttur and Sullia Congress blocks will be held on Friday January 11 while those of Kadaba and Vittal blocks will be held on Saturday January 12.

The meetings of Beltangady, Bantwal, Gurpur, Panemangalore, Moodibidri and Mulky Congress blocks will held on Tuesday January 15 and Wednesday January 16.

The people's awareness campaign will be held at Nehru Maidan on Saturday January 19, which is expected to be attended by more than 50,000 people. Congress leaders Veerappa Moily and Janardhan Poojary will also be attending the campaign, said Ramanath Rai.

Congress leaders, G A Bava, Moideen Bava, Suresh Ballal, Kallige Tharanath Shetty, Ivan D'Souza and others were present on this occasion.
