Udupi, Jan 10: The city court has issued interim order to Nagarjuna Power Corporation, not to undertake any works from 6.00 pm to 7.00 am, in and around Yellur village. The stay order has been given following a petition filed by the residents of Yellur village against Nagarjuna that came for hearing Tuesday January 8.
The Court has also ordered Nagarjuna not to use explosives within the site area, to undertake any building works, dig large scale trenches and disturb peace, in the vicinity of Yellur, till the next hearing on Wednesday January 16.
On the basis of the petition filed by the residents of Yellur village, namely, Pandyaru Sumitra, Vishwanath Bhat, Krishnamurthy Jois, Odi Mogera, Sheikh Husain Saheb, Sheikh Munna Saheb, K Raghavendra Rao, Theresa D’Souza, Nagesh Rao, K R Vadiraj Rao, Aithappa, Nagesh Rao, Chitralekha and Subramanya Bhat; the court has issued immediate orders to assign a delegation, in order to assess the damage caused to the properties such as, borewells, open wells of the locals.
The court has also issued immediate orders to Nagarjuna, not to ply earthmovers on Gram Panchayat roads in Nandikoor, Yellur and Mudarangady villages, in response to the petition filed.
Yashwant Shetty, former present of Yellur Gram Panchayat and Harish Shetty were present at the press conference.
