Rajkot, Nov 13 (DHNS): Adil Rashid was the most successful of England’s bowlers, returning figures of 4/114. After an innings each from India and England, Rashid, in fact, had the best bowling analysis for spinners from either side.

“It felt quite good,” he noted when asked if it was the best he has bowled in his six-Test career. “It felt nice to get a good bowl and get into a rhythm. Bowling in partnership with Moeen (Ali) helped a lot. I felt quite good today. It’s all down to a lot of hard work, hard work in the nets. Knowing what to work on and practice it, and then execute the same skills when you go out for the game. Knowing the pace of the wicket, the lengths, the lines, the field-setting in this game worked well,” he thought.

England maybe sitting pretty at the moment with an overall lead of 163 with all 10 wickets in hand but Rashid felt all three results were still possible in this match. “There's still a lot of cricket to be played tomorrow. First we got to come out, get the runs on the board and see what position we are at lunch time. If we are in a good position we might just give it a bowl and see what happens.”

Rashid also elaborated on his work with Pakistan’s off-spinning great Saqlain Mushtaq who is England’s spin bowling consultant.

“I've been working more on setting fields and what kind of gameplans to get batsmen out in these conditions,” he pointed out. “Obviously the pace is key, the pace which I'm comfortable at and the pace with which I can spin the ball the most is crucial. I am just maintaining that, just believing in that and just being confident and executing the skills out in the middle.”

Rashid was impressed with the way debutant Haseeb Hameed batted in the match.

“He's very calm, very organised. He's a hard-worker as well. He's got a good sense of humour and he fits very well into the dressing room. Hopefully he can carry on for many more years to come. He played seam exceptionally well, he played spin very well using his feet forward and back. He works hard and he's very organised in his batting,” he remarked.
