Mangaluru, Nov 14: The president of Vishwa Konkani Kendra, Basti Vaman Shenoy inaugurated the 'Odemalyo Kanyo' storytelling competition as part of Balangele Rashtriya Diwas of Vishwa Konkani Kendra on Sunday November 13.

Speaking on the occasion he said, "Today the tradition of telling stories is diminishing slowly from society. When we were kids, stories used to be the source of knowledge and creativity. Today, not just the mothers, but even grandmothers do not know this art. So, to take this to the next generation we have organised this competition."

The chief guest of the programme was Geetha C Kini, president of Konkani Bhasha Mandal.

The storytelling competition was held in two categories. Primary and higher secondary. Veteran Konkani writers Eddie Sequiera Felcy Lobo and Chandrika Mallya were the judges of the event.

Vice president of Vishwa Konkani Kendra Kudpi Jagadeesha Shenoy, Vishwanatha Shenoy and others were present at the occasion.
