Bangalore, Jan 11: Zee Kannada's programme 'Akhada' recorded in Mangalore will be telecast on Sunday January 13 between 10.00 am to 11.00 am.

The popular Zee Kannada programme showcasing a heated debate between well-known people was held in Mangalore recently.  Yogish Bhat, former MLA, Ivan D'Souza, Congress leader and Prof Pattabhi Somayaji were invited to interact with the general public on the escalating cases of communal disharmony across the coastal district.

The interactive session led by eminent journalist Anant Chinivar turned out to be interesting owing to the blame-game taken up by the political parties. The general public was significantly enlightened on various issues related to the rising number cases of communal flare-ups in the undivided Dakshina Kannada (DK) district.

The allegations made by Pattabhirama Somayaji that political parties who pointed fingers at each other were directly responsible for communal disturbances in DK caused heated arguments between supporters of BJP, Congress and other parties who were seated among the audience. The verbal battle intensified so much that the organizers had to call the police to prevent the situation from going out of control. The policemen took more than an hour to cajole the supporters to calm down.
