Bengaluru, Nov 16: The Supreme Court of India in its hearing of the mining case involving the de-reservation of 11,797 sq km of forest areas here, filed by Abraham T J, president Karnataka anti-graft & environmental forum® posted the matter for the second week of January, with a direction to the chief secretary, Government of Karnataka to produce cabinet notes and all other connected papers pertaining to the de-reservation of forest lands taken on approval given by the cabinet on November 16, leading to orders for de-reservation issued on March 15, 2003.
The Supreme Court also ordered that investigation be conducted against N Dharam Singh former CM, Dr M Basappa Reddy former director of mines and geology, Gangaram Baderiya, IAS the then director of department of mines and geology, V Umesh, IAS- former MD of MML, I R Perumal, IAS- former MD MML, K S Manjunath, IAS- former MD MML, Jija Madhavan Hari Singh, IPS- former MD MML, Mahendra Jain, IAS- former MD MML, M Ramappa- former deputy GM MML who are not before the Supreme Court.
The stay granted on January 27, 2012 shall continue to operate in favor of former chief ministers S M Krishna and H D Kumara Swamy, along with D S Aswath IAS- former MD MML, K Srinivas- former deputy GM MML and Shankaralingaiah former Deputy GM MML till the next date of hearing in the second week of January.
The investigations ordered today to look into the issues raised by Abraham T J which have already been upheld by the High Court of Karnataka by its order dated January 20, 2012 are: N Dharam Singh– Granting permission in the name of farmers to illegal miners, for lifting of sand- allowing 44 applications for the transportation of iron ore (by claiming it to be sand) has actually permitted transportation of illegally mined ore, totally to 2,38,166 MTs, valued at Rs 23,22,11,850.
Dr M Basappa Reddy - former director of mines and geology, has permitted an unauthorized movement of 56,747 MT of iron ore/ manganese ore, resulting in revenue loss of Rs 6,41,32,335.
Gangaram Baderiya, IAS the then director of department of mines and geology has allowed illegal transportation of iron ore in two cases, permitting the transportation of 14,200 MT of ore which was valued at Rs 1,38,45,000.
V Umesh, IAS former MD of Mysore Minerals Limited, during his tenure from May 24, 1999 to March 8, 2000, by his intentional acts of commission and omissions, has caused a total loss of Rs 6,90,56,138.
I R Perumal, IAS former MD Mysore Minerals Limited, during his tenure from October 31, 2000 to November 26, 2002 by his intentional acts of commission and omissions, has caused a total loss of Rs 5,02,60,312.
K S Manjunath, IAS former MD Mysore Minerals Limited, during his tenure from November 26, 2002 to December 7, 2002 and February 20, 2003 to July 7, 2003, by his intentional acts of commission and omissions, has caused a total loss of Rs 4,04,66,938.
Jija Madhavan Hari Singh, IPS former MD Mysore Minerals Limited, during her tenure from April 15, 2004 to June 14, 2006, by his intentional acts of commission and omissions, has caused a total loss of Rs 299,42,72,022.
Mahendra Jain, IAS former MD Mysore Minerals Limited, during his tenure from June 15, 2006 to January 9, 2008, by his intentional acts of commission and omissions, has caused a total loss of Rs 219,56,81,974.
M Ramappa former deputy GM Mysore Minerals Limited is jointly responsible over the respective MDs, during the years 2003-04, for causing a loss of Rs 6,10,47,870.
