Moodbidri, Nov 17: 20 students of Rotary English Medium High School here have worked to ease the sufferings of people, particularly aged ones, who had to stand for hours in queues in front of banks to either deposit or exchange demonetized currency notes.
The management of the said school deputed these students to help customers toiling in front of Syndicate Bank branch here. On the first day, principal of the school, Vincent D'Costa, and other teachers provided basic training to the students in the task and from second day onward, these students could work on their own.
This voluntary work came in for lavish praise from the people. Vincent provided inspiration to students by accompanying them when they filled in forms, escorted the customers to respective counters and supplied drinking water to the needy. Because of this voluntary work, customers could get the service they wanted without problem.
One hopes that more heads of institutions take a cue from Vincent and encourage students to serve the society voluntarily, which gives them inner satisfaction. Vincent deserves salute and accolades for thinking of this service and serving the needy at the time of their need.
