Mangalore, Jan 11: City-based AJ Hospital and Research Centre, adds one more feather to its cap by launching the endocrinology department in the city. This would turn to be a boon to the locals, especially those who are suffering from endocrine problems like diabetes and thyroid disorders, said Dr Prasanth Marla, medical director, AJ Hospital and Research Center, at the press conference here on Friday January 11.
The department is headed by Dr HK Ganesh and coordinated by other endocrinologists, to provide holistic care to patients with various hormonal disorders, he highlighted.
The-state-of-art facility is first-of-its-kind in the coastal Karnataka and it has been started with the intention of taking the treatment to door steps in the region. It is hoped that people suffering from disorders like diabetes complication and undesirable development like obesity and thyroid will be the beneficiaries, as the disorders could turn to be fatal with the passage of time, the physician added.
The camp will be organized by the institution, to spread awareness in this regard from Tuesday January 15 to Thursday January 31. Here, the consultation will be absolutely free and people of the vicinity can avail further tests in affordable packages. The prime focus will be diabetes, thyroid disorders, obesity, short stature, hirsutism and osteoporosis, he added.
Dr Ganesh HK and Shiva Prasad Shetty, marketing consultant of the institution were present at the press conference.
