Mangalore: Electoral Rolls Revision Programme Begins

Mangalore, Jan 12: As per the directives by the Election Commission of India, the revision of electoral rolls has been undertaken from Friday January 11 to Monday January 21 across the district, informed M Maheshwara Rao, Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada (DK) district to media persons at the press conference held at the court hall, here on Friday January 11. 

The Electoral Rolls Revision Programme has been under taken in all the assembly constituencies under DK district, such as Sullia, Puttur, Vittal, Beltangady, Bantwal, Mangalore, Ullal, Suratkal and Moodbidri during the special campaign days, he added. 

The DC added that any Indian citizen, who is above 18 years of age as on January 1, 2008 may apply for inclusion of his/her name in the electoral roll in the area where he/she is residing. The revision of the electoral roll will be carried out on the basis of house-to-house visit.

People can check whether their names have been included in the roll or voters list with proper address, if not they could consult tahsildar or the officers in Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) limits, DC briefed. 

It is also mandatory that no one should make false statements in connection to declaration with the electoral registration officer, with respect to revision or correction of electoral roll.  A booth level official will be employed for every 10 polling stations, every 10 booth level officials will be working under a nodal officer and a supervisor will administer the works of 30 booth level officers, he added.
