Mangalore: MV Shetty College to host National Nursing Conference

Mangalore, Jan 12: A two-day South Zone Nursing Conference, with emphasis on changing faces of nursing perspectives, in order to develop new competencies, to recognize changes in the scenario of nursing, will be held by city based MV Shetty Institute of Health Sciences from Thursday January 17 to Friday January 18 at TMA Pai International Convention Centre here.

The conference will be inaugurated by Prof HS Ballal, vice-chancellor of Manipal University, during the function on Thursday January 17, while presided by Dr M Ramgopal Shetty, founder secretary of Dr M V Shetty Memmorial Trust. Dr Manju Vatsa, principal, AIIMS CON, New Delhi, will deliver the key note address, informed Prof BV Kathyayini, principal of Dr MV Shetty IHS and organizing secretary of National Conference, to the media persons at the press conference, here on Friday January 11.

Changing scenario in nursing practice, changing scenario in nursing education (soft skills), panel discussion on professional roles and research utilization in nursing, image of nursing and panel discussion on issues in nursing will make the topics during the conference, she added.

Inter-collegiate Throw ball tournament, will be held from Monday, January 14 to Tuesday, January 15. The blood donation camp and fruit distribution to the in-patients of Lady Goschen Hospital, Wenlock Hospital and Old age home, would make the conference and bi-decennial celebrations of the institution meaningful, she detailed.

The conference has also received consent and assurance by the eminent speakers in the field of nursing that they would make presentations in the conference in the various schedules, she briefed.

Dr M Ramgopal Shetty, chairman and Prof K Shanthakumari, vice-principal of the institution were present at the press conference.
