Puttur: Woman who had consumed poison dies in hospital

Puttur, Nov 22: A woman from the taluk, who had fallen critically ill after consuming poison, died at a hospital on Monday November 21. The victim was Gracy D'Souza (41), resident of Aryamureru in Chikkamudnur village in the taluk.

Gracy, it is learnt, was bothered by acute stomach and waist pain since the last three years. The problems had aggravated since about a month. Out of depression at these chronic conditions, she consumed some poisonous substance on November 19 afternoon.

She was taken to the hospital in the town and then to a hospital at Mangaluru. But her condition deteriorated and she died on Monday.

On the basis of a report filed by a local, Benedict D'Souza, the town police here have registered a case.
