Mangaluru: St Theresa’s School holds colourful Annual Day

Mangaluru, Nov 22: Prof Dr K Byrappa, vice chancellor of Mangalore University graced the Annual Day 2016 of St Theresa’s School held at the school premises on November 18.

The head girl Advithi Kottary and head boy Kian Alvares along with the school band escorted the dignitaries to the dais.

The programme commenced with a prayer dance by the students of class VII portraying the creation of God. The students of class VI welcomed the gathering through a welcome dance and the melodious voices of the students of class VIII presented the band in a harmonious blend of musical notes in different languages.

Principal, Sr Premitha presented the school report tracing the progress, major events and achievements of the school.

The chief guest and the guest of honour bestowed the prizes to the deserving students for topping in each subject in the academic year 2015-2016 and motivated them to keep working hard.

The most enthralling highlight of the programme was the dance drama ‘Aura of Love’ where over 250 students of class IX and X unleashed a breathtaking performance showcasing the talents in different dances, drama and choir group with a message that children today are nurtured in an environment conducive to growth and yet betrayed in their own world.

The programme ended with a solemn prayer with a message ‘the light of love spread and envelop the child’s world’. The elegant and magnificent performances mesmerized the audiences and no doubt it was a visual treat for all.

Prof Dr K Byrappa, vice chancellor of Mangalore University, Sr Mariette BS, Secretary of Bethany Educational Society and the correspondent of St Theresa’s School, Bendur, Sr Shanthi Priya, Member of the Council of Management, Sr Christine, procurator general, Sr Leena Pereira, superior of Bethany Convent, Sujith Noronha, PTA vice-president were present on the dais.

Sr Shanthi Claire, vice principal welcomed the gathering and Doreen Dsouza on behalf of the management proposed the vote of thanks. The entire programme was compered by Kian Alvares and Noorain Sheikh of class X. The programme came to its final end with the singing of school anthem.
