Bengaluru, Nov 23: The state high court (HC) has dismissed a petition filed by former Lokayukta, Justice Y Bhaskar Rao, seeking to quash additional charge sheet filed against him by the special investigating team to Lokayukta special court by adding him as an accused in the corruption scandal involving Lokayukta institution.

The single judge bench of the HC presided over by Justice Anand Byrareddy, which had reserved the verdict after completing hearing of the petition filed by Justice Rao, on Tuesday, announced its verdict, dismissing the petition.

The HC has refused to cancel the court hearing of the former Lokayukta on the basis of additional charge sheet as stated above. It clarified that the Lokayukta special court, which has been holding hearing in the said case can serve summons to accused Justice Bhaskar Rao and subject him to court trial. This has effectively forced Justice Bhaskar Rao to face hearing by Lokayukta court.
