Mangaluru: DC bars transportation of cattle fodder to Kerala

Mangaluru, Nov 23: Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner, Dr K G Jagadeesh, through an order, has restricted transportation of cattle fodder to Kerala from other districts of Karnataka through Dakshina Kannada district.

"Fodder is being moved to Kerala state from various districts of the state through Dakshina Kannada. The government has noted that on account of this development, these districts suffer from shortage of fodder. On the basis of instructions passed in this respect by the additional chief secretary, this order to ban transportation of fodder has been issued," the communique stated.

Various districts in the state are facing drought situation. A number of districts have already been declared as drought-hit. In public interest, transportation of fodder to Kerala from other districts through Dakshina Kannada has been barred. All the check posts in the district including those located at the border should initiate proper measures to strictly implement this order, the deputy commissioner stated.
