Vietnam seizes half a ton of ivory

Hanoi, Nov 25 (IANS): Vietnamese customs officers seized around 500 kg of elephant tusks in Ho Chi Minh City smuggled from Africa, an official said on Friday.

The smuggled ivory were found on Thursday among timbers in the two containers at Cat Lai port. They were imported from Africa by a local company.

Another similar cache was recovered earlier in November.

In October, they had unearthed three similar smuggled cases, with a total of over 3.5 tons of elephant tusks.
