Over 40 migrants detained at Bulgaria camp

Moscow, Nov 25 (IANS): Over 40 persons have been detained in a Bulgaria refugee camp after a riot, an official said on Friday.

Commissioner General of Bulgaria's Interior Ministry, Georgi Kostov said they were detained for "acts of vandalism", Sputnik news reported.

At least four police officers were injured in the clashes on Thursday with the migrants, who reportedly threw stones at the police.

The riot broke when dozens of migrants were trying to leave the Harmanli refugee centre but were stopped by police and firefighters who used water cannons against them.

Later, about two thousand refugees took part in a protest.

There were reports of various problems at the Harmanli center, including poor medical treatment.
