Nature, tradition of northeast portrayed on canvas

New Delhi, Nov 26 (IANS): Portraying the culture, tradition, costume, unique lifestyle, flora and fauna and nature of north east India in canvas is the ongoing art exhibition titled "The Sacred Grove: North East".

Organised by the Lalit Kala Akademi here, the exhibition which will continue till November 29 compiles the lives and beauty of north eastern states in 60 paintings.

"Our motive for organising the exhibition is giving the artists, especially from north east, a platform to showcase their talent. The canvases have beautifully showcased the beauty of the states and gives audience a chance to know more," Sudhakar Sharma, Secretary, Lalit Kala Akademi told IANS.

The paintings which are based on acrylic, mix media and oil have been collected from the various work shops organised by the Akademi in north east and India.

"People are not so aware of the cultures and tradition of northeastern states. The paintings are an attempt to acquaint audience with the lifestyle of the states," told Raja Deori, an artist from Arunachal Pradesh.
