Want to choke black money, opposition wants shutdown: Modi

Kushinagar (Uttar Pradesh), Nov 27 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday that he had called for an end to corruption and black money but the opposition was rooting for 'Bharat Bandh'.

"The government is working to end the flow of black money and corruption but they (opposition) are talking about Bharat Bandh (shutdown)," Modi told a rally here.

"Should the flow of black money and corruption end or not?" Modi asked the gathering.

The opposition parties, including the Congress, Trinamool Congress and the Left, have called for a countrywide 'Aakrosh Diwas' to denounce the November 8 demonetisation move of high value currency.

Modi urged the people to use mobile and other electronic mode of payments for a cashless society.

"The way you easily recharge your mobile phone and send photographs through Whatsapp, you can also use your mobile phone for (moentary) transactions. You can make your mobile phone a bank branch," he said.
