Udupi: Bajrang Dal activists assault cattle trafficker inside Hiriadka jail

Udupi, Nov 28: Bajrang Dal activists assaulted a person who was allegedly involved with cattle trafficking. The incident happened on Sunday, November 27 at Hiriadka jail.

Irshad Moideen is the person assaulted. Sudeep Shetty, Akhilesh Shetty, Sukumar, Manjesh Prateek and Prashanth Mogaveera are the accused who assaulted Irshad.

As per details, Irshad and another person named Rafiq were arrested on November 26 by Karkala town police for cattle trafficking. Both of them were transporting a cow for slaughtering on the night of November 26 in a Maruti car. When police constable Chandrakanth and a home guard intercepted them, they had run after attempting to assault the police personnel. Police later arrested the duo. A case stands registered at Karkala town police regarding the issue.

Irshad and Rafiq were sent on judicial custody to the Hiriadka jail. When Irshad was going for his food at the jail on Sunday, five persons believed to be Bajrang Dal activists, who are inmates of the jail, assaulted Irshad with their hands, used abusive language and posed life threat.

Hiriadka police have registered a case.
