AIADMK legislators hold 'elephant puja' in Kerala for 'Amma'


Thekkady (Kerala), Nov 28 (IANS): Two AIADMK legislators from Tamil Nadu and their supporters held an "elephant puja" here Monday for the overall well being of their party chief and Chief Minister J.Jayalalitha, presently convalescing at a hospital in Chennai.

Three elephants were kept ready Monday morning at an elephant safari park at Kumily near here along with a group of Hindu priests from Tamil Nadu.

The AIADMK delegation was led by legislators T.Selvam and S.T.K. Chekkeiye besides hundreds of their party workers.

After the hour-long 'puja', the elephants were also fed their favourite food items.

"This is for our Amma and to pray for her health," Selvam told reporters.

After the elephant puja, the delegation went and prayed at a nearby mosque also.

The Kerala-Tamil Nadu border is about 30 km from the famed tourist destination of Thekkady.
