New Delhi, Nov 29 (Agencies) : In a significant move, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked BJP MPs and MLAs to submit details of their bank account transactions between November 8 and December 31. The ministers have been asked to submit the details to party president Amit Shah by January 1.
Reacting to this, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal took to Twitter and said that details of transactions made before six months of the announcement should also be revealed. Kejriwal, questioning the move, said account details of “PM Modi’s friends like Adani, Ambani and Paytm” should also be obtained.
The prime minister had announced demonetisation policy on November 8 under which old Rs 500 and 1,000 currency notes were made invalid. The government issued new currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 2,000 and the people were given a window of 50 days till December 30 to exchange their old currency notes for new.
The decision, as per the government, has been taken to tackle the problem of hoarding black money in the form of cash and circulation of counterfiet currency. However, the government is also facing sharp criticism from opposition parties because of the “lack of planning” and “poor implementation” of the policy.
