Court grants CBI three day transit remand of SP leader


New Delhi, Dec 2 (IANS): A court here on Friday granted the CBI, three day transit remand of Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Amanmani Tripathi who was arrested for allegedly murdering his wife.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Satish Kumar Arora allowed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), time till December 5, to take Tripathi to Lucknow and present him before a court there.

Tripathi was presented before the court after expiry of his three day police custody.

Tripathi, the son of former Uttar Pradesh Minister Amarmani Tripathi who is undergoing life sentence for murder of poetess Madhumita Shukla in 2003, was arrested on Friday for the alleged murder of his wife Sara, who had reportedly died in a car accident in Uttar Pradesh's Firozabad in July last year.

Followed by a complaint by Sara's mother, an FIR was registered against Tripathi, and the case later transferred to CBI.
