Bangalore Jan 19: He was the ultimate “married man” with seven wives. But Ashoknagar police finally caught up with Vijayan (40), who was arrested and charged with cheating the seven women.
Police said the accused, a resident of Koratam Pattu in Tamil Nadu's Tiruvannamalai district, would pose as a pastor to gain entry into the houses of good- looking women. Once inside under the pretext of offering prayers, he would convince them into marrying him.
He had married Pamela, a resident of Shanthinagar and got the marriage registered on September 11 last. Police say he married three other women in a similar fashion. Later, he married Rani Mary, a resident of Coimbatore, in 1989; Rajani, a resident of Tirupattur, in 1994 and Jayanthi, a resident of Tirupattur, in 2007 in various churches.
Vijayan told the police he had not committed any crime. He married only widows and those in distress.

Produced in court
Peenya police produced two persons before the 9th ACCMM Court on Friday in connection with an acid attack.
Three days ago, a team of officials from Bangalore had gone to Hyderabad to take custody of Prabhakar Reddy (32) and Anand Reddy (35), who were in Charalapalli jail, in connection with a bomb blast in Hyderabad. The duo and 10 of their associates were allegedly involved in the acid attack on Krishna Murthy, an industrialist, in 1997.
Judge Anil B Katti postponed the next hearing to January 24. Police said the duo were naxals and were involved in the murder of former Andhra Pradesh MLA Paritala Ravi.
