Belarus football team head coach fired

Minsk (Belarus), Dec 7 (IANS): Belarusian national football team's head coach Alexander Hatskevich has left his office, the East European country's football federation has said.

The Belarusian Football Federation prematurely terminated the contract with Hatskevich. The agreement with him was originally due to run till November next year, reports Xinhua.

The federation said the contract with Hatskevich had been terminated due to unsatisfactory results of the 2018 World Cup qualification.

After a draw with France, Belarus lost to the Netherlands 1-4, drew 1-1 with Luxembourg and lost to Bulgaria 0-1.

Belarus are ranked fifth with two points in Group A. The Federation set the task to take at least the 3rd place in the tournament.
