Bantwal: Rajdhani Jewellers shootout case- accused arrested by ‘chance’

Bantwal, Dec 11: Vittal police here on Saturday December 10, arrested a person by chance, who is the accused in the Rajdhani Jewellers shootout case. When the police enquired two persons, who were moving suspiciously in town, it was leant that both of them were trying to sell stolen goods and one of them is the accused in the shootout case.

Mohammed Fayaz (20) alias Payya from Thingalady and Yahya (26) from Kotekar are the arrested persons.

As per detail available, Mohammed Fayaz and Yahya were seen moving suspiciously and then trying to sell cigarettes to a shop at Vittal bus stand. Police started interrogating them and came to know that they were selling the goods stolen from a shop belonging to Umar at Thingalady worth Rs 2,000. They had also stolen Rs 3,000 cash from there.

But the police did not know that Fayaz was an accused in Rajdhani Jewellers shootout case. It was only revealed during further interrogations. Fayaz was involved in Rajdhani Jewellers shootout case and absconding since then. He went to a foreign country after that and was untraceable. He recently came back home and started criminal activities with Yahya.
