India lose to Uruguay in U-17 football meet

New Delhi, Dec 15 (IANS): The India U-17 football team went down to Uruguay 1-2 in their last match of the round-robin stage match in the Atletico Paranaense U-17 International Tournament.

Wednesday's defeat was India's third straight defeat in the tournament, according to an All-India Football Federation (AIFF) release here.

After conceding two goals on either side of the break, Komal Thatal halved the difference but a gritty Uruguayan defence contained the Indian attackers till the final whistle.

India coach Nicolai Adam made one change in the starting eleven from Tuesday's match against Atletico Paranaense, handing Lalengmawia his first start in the tournament over Aman Chetri.

India are slated to face Uruguay again on Friday.
