M'lore: Vibrant Flowers to Steal Hearts at Kadri Park from Jan 25

Mangalore, Jan 23: A myriad display of flowers will enchant visitors during an exhibition at Kadri Park here from Friday January 25 to Monday January 28.

The flower show will be organized by the district administration in association with horticulture department, Mangalore City Corporation and Siri Horticulture Association and promoted by Shree Kshetra Dharmastala Rural Development Project, informed Dr CG Nagaraj, deputy director of horticulture department, while speaking to media persons here on Wednesday, January 23.

He further said that various kinds of flowers such as marigold, orchid, anthorium, dahlia, jarbera, flax, gladiolus, celosia and other ornamental plants grown by the horticulture department will be exhibited at the show. Apart from this, public and government departments and NGOs can display their home-grown plants and flowers at the venue, he added.

Farmers from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts will also take part in the show. Private nurseries from Bangalore and other parts of the state will also participate.

Various competitions on nurseries and private gardens will be held on the occasion. 'Rangoli,' using petals, Bonsai competitions, Ikebana, salad dressing and other competitions will be held as part of the event, he added.

The exhibition will be inaugurated by K P Sucharita Shetty, president of DK zilla panchayat at 4 pm on  January 25. The valedicatory will be held at 5 pm, on Monday January 28.

N Somaiah, senior assistant director of horticulture department, K Nemiraj Konde and Vijayalakshmi Rao, office bearers of Siri Horticulture Association were present on the occasion.
