Udupi, Jan 25: Janata Dal (S) has plans to field 20 candidates from minority communities in the upcoming assembly elections, said president of JD(S) state unit minority wing H M Shakeel Nawaaz here on Thursday January 24.
Addressing media persons he said that in the district one of the six assembly seats would be given to a minority candidate, as per the directions by H D Deve Gowda president of the JD (S) and president of the state unit party Merajuddin Patel to increase the number of workers from minority communities.
In the month of February a district-level convention of the party will be held which H D Deve Gowda is expected to attend, said Deviprasad Shetty, president of the Udupi district unit.
