Udupi: Silas International School celebrates annual day

Udupi, Dec 19: Silas International School, one of the prestigious schools in the district celebrated its 15th annual day on Saturday December 17.

The chief guest of the function, professor Kusuma Kamath, principal of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College Udupi, said, “I am very happy that the management of this school has invited me to this beautiful programme. Silas International School is playing a major role in creating better youth for the society. Many students from Silas are now studying at our college.”

Talking about good habits students need to cultivate she said, “It is very difficult to cultivate good habits and get rid of the bad ones. We must first begin with good things and continue them. They will later become a habit. If we first make a habit, then later the habit will make us. Success is not just achieved by hard work alone, but there must be perseverance too." She illustrated this with the example of Thomas Alva Edison and urged the students not to give up in the middle whilst on their way to success.”

“There will be ups and downs in our life, but we have to accept the both are equal. There should be positiveness in our attitude and positive affirmation in our statement. I am also a kind of person who always think positive. “ He concluded.

The chairman of the school, R S Maben, presiding over the function in his presidential speech said, “There should be discipline in our lives. We must first do to others what we need to do for ourselves. Always be alert to the need of your loved ones. Parents should spare time for their children,” he concluded.

During the programme, special achievers in the field of sports, education and behaviour in the current academic year were presented prizes.

Sathwik, Rakshith and Sahran, the highest scorers in the previous year's examination were felicitated.

Deeksha Karkada, Gagan Pai and Thrisha Shetty the alumini were recognized at the occasion.

The colourful cultural programme was followed by the stage programme. The students entertained the gathering by playing different instruments and performing to various songs of the 50’s.

Principal of the school, Deidra S Maben presented the annual report. Rohini Maben, trustee was present on the occasion. Teaching, non-teaching staff and parents were also present at the programme.
