Udupi, Dec 20: Trinity Central school, Perampalli, celebrated its seventh Anual Day on the school campus here, on Saturday, December 17.

Priyanka Mary Francis, CEO, Zilla Panchayat, Udupi inaugurated the annual function. Addressing the gathering, she said, "There is social intolerance everywhere in the society. Education does not mean academic growth alone but the development of mind and body as well. There is a needed to build strong young minds at present at this point where teachers and parents impose pressure on children, and it is crucial that they learn about the civic society. Let us not  develop our children as bookworms alone but bring them up to be good human beings first."

She appreciated the values of 'harmony and discipline' that the school fosters.

Veronica Cornelio, chairperson of Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Ltd spoke on occasion, and said, "Parents should keep a regular check on their children’s activities. During adolescence, the mindset of children changes. Parents must inculcate spiritual values to their children. When a person has a fear of God, he will work honestly. There are many subjects available now for students to opt. Parents should thus encourage their child's interest."

Fr Arun Lobo, coordinator, Capuchin Social Action Initiatives presided over the programme. He said, "Every child has right to live. Therefore, moral values must be given more preference than academic achievement. It is a huge responsibility of a parent to help a child realise her/his dream and bring them to the mainstream of the society."

Anil D’Costa, the principal of the school, congratulated all the donors who were given mementoes in gratitude.

Guests distributed prizes to students. Students of the school showcased various cultural dances, drama, musical performances.

Academic co-ordinator Magdalena Lewis read out the annual report. National gold medalist in running race, Master Manish Poojary, Perampalli was felicitated on occasion.

Shreya Shetty welcomed the gathering.
