Mangaluru, Dec 20: Enthusiastic youth from ICYM, YCS, Shri Sanghatan and the choir of Kinnigoli parish welcomed Christmas, the celebration of love, in a pleasant manner, where they carolled through the parish, one or more ward a day,  from December 10 to 17.

One of the members ICYM members spoke to daijiworld and said, "This is our fourth year of performance. We've had about 25 members performing from the three organisations this year. We perform in the evenings, as we have college during the day. But our efforts have paid off as there has been an excellent response to the programme in the parish.

"The tribute from carolling rounds helps cover the travel and prop expenses, and the balance is used for programmes ahead. We also have a presentation of carols at Concetta Hospital, on December 23, we look forward to sharing the joy of Christmas," He added further.

The parish comprises 17 wards. Of them,  Fathima is one. The members of this ward had gathered for a Eucharistic celebration for the elderly and the ill, on Wednesday, December 14. Soon after the solemn celebration, a troupe of youngsters made an entrance to set up a platform and stage a series of performances. They started with a reflection of the Bible, followed by a skit, and then the well-awaited cheery carols that engaged all the members of the ward. The overarching theme of the programme was.  'people are important', and that it is vital to weave into relationships love, which is the essence of the celebration.

The celebration ended  with an expression of gratitude by the Gurkar, Raphael Rebello. Parish priest of Kinnigoli, Fr Vincent Monteiro was present at the celebration.

The group conducted some games and Santa gave away the prizes.
