Udupi, Jan 26: Governor Rameshwar Thakur issued orders to transfer V Ponnuraj, who has been serving as deputy commissioner of district for the past 2 years on Friday January 25. Accordingly, he would be taking charge as deputy commissioner of Ramanagar district. Though his transfer was proposed a month ago, it was shelved owing to pressure from some quarters.
Meanwhile, his wife P Hemalatha, who has been serving as chief executive officer of Udupi zilla panchayat (ZP), will take charge of the post of deputy commissioner replacing her husband. Moreover, she will also continue as acting-chief executive officer of ZP.
Ponnuraj and Hemalatha were among the other IAS officers who were issued transfer orders to take charge as deputy commissioners across the state.
