Margao Jan 28: Biometric Finger Scan Attendance which was introduced in the Margao Municipality few days ago has perturbed workers as it does not work properly.  Hence they have demanded to uninstall it.

The day it was announced by the municipal authorities that the system was to be installed to keep watch on workers' attendance, it was opposed by some of the workers.

Workers on the pretext that the machine shows err in the attendance have demanded to scrap the whole Idea. According to them machine fails to record the attendance, thus showing them absent even when they have attended the duty.

Although beleaguered chief officer N D Agarwal has assured workers that he will look in to the matter and will make the machine work properly,  the employees association have threatened to stage protest, if it is not scrapped.

Sources in the Municipality said that, since the machine is installed, the workers have to come on time, which they never want to. This has made life difficult to them. Hence they have planning to scrap the system under the pretext that it is not working properly. 

Goa having many of the industrial estates has installed the same system in the respective companies. The trend of Biometric Finger Scan Attendance has started, keeping PUNCH CARD system back. 

High class officers in the Municipality have supported the protestors in their aim.
