Udupi: Bhaskar Shetty case - Court rejects Rajeshwari's bail plea

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (HB)

Udupi, Dec 28: The district and sessions court on Wednesday December 28 rejected the bail plea of Rajeshwari, accused in the murder case of Bhaskar Shetty.

The bail plea was rejected by presiding officer T Venkatesh Naik.

Rajeshwari (50), her son Navneet Shetty (20), and Niranjan Bhat (26) are the main accused in the alleged murder of businessman Bhaskar Shetty.

Bhaskar went missing in July end this year and less than a week later, it was alleged that he was murdered. His wife Rajeshwari, son Navaneet and Niranjan Bhat, an astrologer from Nandalike, were arrested in the case. Bhaskar's body was never found. The case took several turns with property dispute and affair angles emerging. Two other persons were also arrested for destruction of evidence, and they are currently out of bail while the three main accused are lodged in Mangaluru jail.

With the district and sessions court rejecting Rajeshwari's bail plea, she will now have to approach the high court.

After initial hearing in lower courts, the proceedings of the case were transferred to the district and sessions court on Tuesday December 27.

M Shantaram Shetty is the special public prosecutor in the case.

Speaking to daijiworld, Shantaram Shetty said that the bail plea was rejected on the grounds that this was a possibly a 'rarest of the rare' crime where a wife was accused of carrying out a planned murder of her husband without any harassment or provocation on his part. "Even if she approaches the high court, Rajeshwari is unlikely to get bail in the case. The outcome of this case will have a bearing on the society," he said.

Physically Bhasker Shetty is no more as both the wife and son with connivance of Niranjan Bhat killed him. So Rajeshwari his wife should not be grantd bail unless and untill the fact comes out. Mentally Rajeshwari is not sound. If she comes out then again the property dispute aggravates joing with her mother and sister and othe relatives.

Its an eyeopener for ll who accumulate money and property. Ajeem Premji once told, dont accumulate money for your children. Its the money from the society and should be used for society.Money can make you forget all the relations. Now no one has peace.Everything scattered.
