President greets Sudan on Independence Day


New Delhi, Dec 31 (IANS): President Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday greeted Sudan on its Independence Day.

"I have the pleasure to extend warm greetings and felicitations to Your Excellency and to the friendly people of Sudan on the occasion of your Independence Day," Mukherjee said in his message to his Sudanese counterpart Omar Hassan Ahmed Al-Bashir.

"India and Sudan have traditionally enjoyed close and friendly relations. I am confident that our co-operation will be further strengthened in the years to come," he said.

Sudan is a North African country and celebrates its Independence Day on January 1.
