Kundapur: Bridge on the Verge of Collapse, Anyone Listening?

Kundapur, Jan 30: The main bridge linking the town and the village Anagally here has been in a state of disrepair for several years, posing a threat to commuters and pedestrians every day.

Built in the year 1987, the 90-metre long and 3-foot wide narrow bridge is the only way for the people and the two and three-wheelers to cross the river bordering the town and Anagally near Basruru. Despite numerous petitions to the authorities concerned no action has been taken yet.

A political party in the course of the election campaign recently held for the town municipality had promised to set right the problem, but after the election no one came forward to fulfil the promise.

In case the bridge collapses people have to take the longer route which extends to more than ten kilometres.

From last 9 years we are hearing that anaglly bridge will be reconstruct soon. Only politicians are raising this issue for vote bank at election time like fake promise. I feel that government will never build new bridge until this narrow bridge collapses and loose some civilians lives.  Local MLA,MP & leaders action accordingly and serve people honestly.

There are many stories behind this engineer, which not clear for me. Fortunately it was luck of Anagalli village people where they used come by boat then. Moreover it is beautiful scenery from this bridge and so many people have their daily bread by catching fish from this bridge. Politicians please take care of this public property.

I do not agree with Mr. Rebello's statement. Politicians not only promise but also eradicate poverty by inducting more ministers into the Cabinet, they eradicate the poverty of those ministers. We should not assume that the promises made are for common people but only for the Ministers.

During elections Politicians only promise that they will eradicate poverty & polution. If they really do, then there is nothing left to promise again in the next election? Please note, Politicians also want to survive.
