M'lore: KMC to Conduct Workshop on Cardiology, Radial Intervention

Mangalore, Jan 31: A workshop on ‘Cardiology and Radial Intervention, will be jointly organized by Manipal Heart Institute and departments of medicine at KMC Hospital, at Hotel Gold Flinch on Saturday February 2, stated Dr Sunil Deshpande, chief operating officer (COO), here at the press conference on Thursday January 31.

A series of panel discussions and live case demonstration would be conducted during the continuous medical education (CME). The workshop aims at providing a platform to share knowledge among cardiologists in and around the city which would help to promote radial intervention and train other cardiologists of this region, he added.

M Maheshwar Rao, deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada, will be the chief guest at the inaugural function of the programme.  Dr Nagendraswamy, group medical director of Manipal Health Systems, will preside over the function.  Dr AV Shetty, Dr KSS Bhat, president of Cardiology Society of India and Karnataka, will be the guest faculties on the occasion, stated Dr Deshpande.

Manipal Health Systems and Manipal University, together are offering tertiary, secondary and primary healthcare delivery services from 17 hospitals, 9 primary care clinics and 55 community health programmes.  With over 7,000 beds, it is reckoned as one of the largest healthcare delivery systems in Asia.

Dr Yusuf Kumble of department of cardiology, Dr Raviraj, marketing executive were present at the press conference.
